I love doing family beach portraits in the Outer Banks ( & every beach for that matter ), and I love working with pets, so working with this couple and their dog on the beach in Corolla NC last September was right up my alley……..……..hope that you like it!

January Twenty Seventh

is Kim’s birthday and this year she is 27, and the words of James McMurty “it’s a damn short movie, how’d we ever get here?” seem very appropriate here. Kim is with Aaron in Louisiana, so Skip, Chris and I decided to sing happy birthday and send it to her….and since Laura is in NYC and wasn’t available for this production, we included her the best we could…lol…….check it out

got in a chilly 3 miler this morning that brings the running streak to 757 days!

good morning

got this image this morning on my iPhone while driving Chris to school, I dig the motion blur…..it’s really got that early morning feel…ya know, that not quite yet focused feeling cause the coffee hasn’t fully kicked in……lol

had dinner the other evening with my buds from The Image Maker. Rob, Wendy, Darlene and I all used to work together in Mendham and Berkeley Heights doing portrait photography of families and children. I’m stoked that we still get together now and then, check us out in front of the old studio in Bekeley Heights after leaving Delicious Heights.

Man, it’s freezing here in Hackettstown today, so I’ll probably wuss out and go for my run on the old dreadmill and watch sports center or old episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This little cutie’s baby portrait was part of a family that I photographed on the beach this past December in Corolla, North Carolina on a day when it was still nice and warm.Here she is with the rest of her family on the awesome Outer Banks beach.

and here’s a family from Basking Ridge, N.J., that was photographed in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island in New Jersey about 18 months ago. It was on my desktop because they just reordeded some prints……which is something that any of my clients can do anytime, since I store all client files in a safe archival manner forever.

okay so today I started a new exercise…a picture a day stream at Flickr….I’m going to photograph something new each day, and post it here…..I’m hoping that it will encourage me to see more light, and more of everything every day……and the rules for this mission are very, the image can be of anything and anywhere that I want and must be made and posted that day, and that means my day, anytime from when I wake up till when I go to bed, clock time doesn’t matter, and from any camera I want, even from my iPhone, uploaded any way I want, with any post production that I want or don’t want (hey…It’s my deal, so I make the rules). Like the running streak ( 749 days! ) I have no idea how long this will last, but be sure to check it out every now and then. good to be back

after a relaxing, but all too fast week at the beach in Corolla it feels really good to be home in Hackettstown, i guess it’s the old New Years thing and focusing on all the positives and all the stuff I want to accomplish this year.

Later today we’re headed to NYC to pick up Spike ( laura ) and then headed uptown to check out Chis at a track meet at the 168th St Armory. I’m kinda pysched as it looks like a really cool place.

Now’s it’s time to get out for my daily run ( gotta get rid rid of some of that holiday weight gain!).

I love New Years Day, there’s always this feeling of ahhh…newness, at least for me anyway, and you seem to see things a bit differently

The Holiday Spirit

I’m not so sure about Gracie,
but I sure do……it hit me right around Thanksgiving this year, maybe because it was the first time we where all together for a few days in a while. Early on Thanksgiving day Kim, Spike, Chris and I ran a 5k in Sparta, NJ

then we all headed down to Doug and Denise’s for an awesome dinner

it was a great time, but passed by way too fast

Another marathon in the books!

okay, so today is……..

my birthday!
54 and still friggin’ rockin’ !

went out for a quick easy 3 miles this morning, just resting up for the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. Todays run brought the streak to 663 straight days of running….sweet.

and last Tuesday was our anniversary, me and Skip, 30 years, how cool is that?
we spent the day relaxing…..out to breakfast……then lunch at Worthington State Forest by the the Delaware with Gracie

then we watched Chris’s cross country meet. It doesn’t get much better.

and here we are w/a bunch of friends before a wedding we went to a couple of weeks ago.
All of our friends kids are getting married and having babies…….me and Skip are the only ones with out Grandkids, yikes!

Man, I can’t believe how fast we got here……and it seems like it was just June and we were in Italy and Kim and Aaron got engaged…….check out Aaron proposing to Kim, it was a total surprise….earlier in the day we were on Capri and Aaron came up to me and asked me if it was okay if he proposed to Kim after we/he got home ( he is stationed in Iraq ), which I mistook for meaning when we were all back in the United States. It was so cool, I was totally blown away!

and check out the crazy drive from our villa just outside Maiori into town and then to the airport in Naples. The video was shot on the Canon G9, which was jammed between the dashboard and windshield of our rented Fiat, at 1 frame per second. Watch me pass that dude in the black Kia on a blind curve…….too effin’ cool!

Watchin’ the World Series tonight? I’m not sure who to root for, I like both Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. I’m just really glad that the Red Sox are not there. I’m totally psyched, and hope that the series goes 7 games.

I was honored to photograph the amazing wedding day of Tammy & Lance this past Saturday. The ceremony was on the beach in Long Branch, New Jersey, then we did some images at the Twin Lighthouses in Highlands, New Jersey, then back to McLoones in Long Branch for an awesome reception ending with an incredible fireworks display over the ocean……

what was this guy thinkin?

I mean, did he really think he was going to get far on the beach with that car………the guy in the jeep was the good samaritan of the day and pulled him out no charge. It’s amazing how many regular cars you see getting stuck in the sand, they hit the gas, spin the wheels……and dig themselves in deeper…….I always feel bad for them, but I never feel bad when I see an Escalade or similar faux 4×4 stuck, I just laugh.

OMGIFA sept 12 oh eight

Last week I had a nice surprise visit from Kim and Bradley as they had to leave Loo-weese-anna for a few days because of Gustav, then had to get out of NC because Hanna was going to interrupt their travel back to Louisiana……….I wonder if Ike will be sending them my way again?

and a sign from one of the shops in the village by my gallery .Got in a bunch of good runs this past week, an 18 miler, couple of 7s and a nice 5, and a few rest days of just 1 – 3. and a few bike rides…….and for anyone keeping track, today the running streak hit 624 days! sweet!

- gas prices rising already because of Ike, what a joke, I bet dubyew and his oil buddies just pray for catastrophes like this.

- did you see the McBama walking together on 9-11 in the pit where the new freedom tower was supposed to have been built…..pledging to be buds for a day
….it’s because of politicians like them that building there hasn’t begun yet, and for the fact that 9-11 happened in the 1st place. I wonder who owns them………
